They feel more substantial and home-like to me. Frankly, I would never build or buy a 2 x 4 structure again. Of course, depending on your needs, you could opt for a more open shared space.
It’s the most budget-friendly unit they offer, and it allows for a kitchen and living area, one bedroom, and one bathroom. Since I like cold-temperature sleeping (around 50 F), I’m fine with the Tuff shed, expect in the winter I sleep in the main house, because the Tuff shed just costs extra to heat and gets much colder. This is a sample floor plan of Tuff Shed’s cabin series, a roughly 576 sqft structure with an additional porch. The bonus is that in the summer, although the bedroom gets much hotter during the day, it also cools down faster at night then the owner-built (by the original owner) main house which stays warmer at night, partly because of the thermal mass of the stucco perhaps. I also didn’t use a vapor barrier or any kind of sheet wrap. Because the bedroom Tuff shed addition is R11, with no floor insulation except a thin rubber sheet above the OSB on the floor and below the Pergo, the room is freezing in the winter, and I don’t sleep there. ft, conventional frame, 2×6″ studs with R19 insulation and less window area. Since I did it alone, I broke a large piece into three, which meant more joint taping/plastering to do, but it came out okay. Although I like the gambrel roof and high ceiling on the interior, drywall is not easy to do holding the pieces at an angle up on a ladder.
